How can hypnotherapy help?

Most of our fears and worries are stored at an unconscious level in the emotional part of our mind. So no amount of logical thinking or 'giving yourself a good talking to' seems to work. In many cases consciously trying to control anxiety ends up making matters worse. The reason is because when we focus on those thoughts and feelings, we tend to amplify them and make them worse. Whenever we try to think our way out of anxiety it has a tendency to lead us into creating more anxiety producing thoughts which increases the physical symptoms, and the 'vicious circle begins'.

Hypnotherapy works by accessing the unconscious part of your mind where all your habits, behaviours and attitudes are stored. Everything that you have learned is stored at this unconscious level. Imagine how tiring it would be if we had to re-learn how to put our trousers on every morning or how to work a door each time we go through it. Whenever we learn something it is stored away so that we can do it unconsciously, without thinking. That's how you are able to get dressed and think about something else at the same time.

You weren't born feeling anxious, you learned to feel it. You had to learn how to produce those feeling yourself. Hypnotherapy works by accessing this unconscious part of your mind and giving it a different set of responses.

You already know how to feel relaxed, happy and comfortable. Hypnosis works by transferring those feelings to other areas of your life. Often one or two sessions can significantly decrease your anxiety.
